BMJ Best Practice and 67 Bricks shortlisted for innovation award

The Association of Learned & Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) has just released the finalists for its annual Awards for Innovation in Publishing 2019 - and BMJ Best Practice with 67 Bricks are among them.

The partnership has been shortlisted for their product BMJ Best Practice, a clinical tool relied upon by clinicians around the world at the point of care, that offers advice on symptom evaluation, test ordering and treatment approaches for 800 conditions in 30 specialties.

Although first released in 2007, it has been regularly revised and modernised since, as BMJ seek to continuously innovate both the tool and the user experience.  In the latest inception, 67 Bricks built a modern, flexible database and content management system that ensures enriched medical data is readily available for clinicians at point of care.  The product has allowed BMJ to differentiate in a competitive market and the changes made to the underlying data structure offers a springboard for new partnerships with the NHS and further innovation.

67 Bricks co-founder Sam Herbert said:  "We are thrilled that our work with BMJ Best Practice has been shortlisted for such a prestigious industry award.  The ALPSP Awards are all about challenging the norms and we are excited to be able to showcase this project, which shows how forward thinking publishing companies can do innovative and compelling things for their users when they put their data first."

"This has been a successful, incredibly complex project delivered in a short period of time. It has given us the foundations to support our product development strategy, innovation and partnerships that were impossible before."  Louise Crowe, Director of BMJ Knowledge.

The winners of the Awards will be announced at the ALPSP Conference Awards Dinner on Thursday 12 September.  To read more about the awards click.  To read the full story of our joint project, click here
